Mobile Notary - Baker - Homemaker
I am busy! Not as in “I have so much work coming out of my ears that I can’t take a breath” busy, but the busy as in I always like to keep busy; it’s just in my nature. This can be good and bad. But for today, we’ll focus on the GOOD!
Life as a self-employed mobile notary public has its ups and downs, its highs and its lows. The past 5 years or so has been extremely busy for the mobile loan signing agent because of the housing and refinance boom! Many signing agents came on the scene hoping to make a lot of money because of this! Low mortgage interest rates and refinance activity increased the need for mobile notaries. I too enjoyed the good times and the hay day of the refinance frenzy, but, this can be an unpredictable industry.
If you are not creative with your spare time you might find that putting all your eggs in one basket has created gaps in your day that are unproductive or you might even be feeling that being a mobile notary is not providing you with the career and income you had hoped for. The smart thing to do is diversify and always have a plan B and C.
So what do I do when I am not signing?
Well, when I am not marketing my business I am usually spending time with my lovely grandson and lately baking! And up until I had major back surgery one and a half years ago, I was an avid ACRO-Yoga Yogini!) But, that is another blog!
I love Google!! In my opinion, Google Search is just about the greatest invention since sliced bread! So, when I wanted to learn how to make an easy coconut pie, I just did a Google search!!
I love ALL things coconut. I recently bought a huge bag of fresh shredded coconut and decided that I needed to find some more uses for it other than just putting it on my smoothies and in my oatmeal. The pie I tried was basic, simple and frankly turned out AMAZING! The next best thing to my grandma’s fresh custard pie is this easy, easy coconut pie. Literally, my husband said “April, do not change a thing in this recipe!”
What does coconut pie have to do with being a self-employed mobile notary?
Everything! It means that had I been sitting at my cubicle job (which had supported me, paid my bills and provided me security for many, many years,) doing a 10 hour day behind a computer, I would NEVER have tried different things. I know for sure I would never have learned to love the practice of YOGA. I would never have been reintroduced to my love of horses. I doubt I would have learned to love trying new recipes. I would never have realized that I am an artist, an entrepreneur. I am talented, creative and a “go-getter”. And most of all I would never have known what it was like to pursue something not because I had to but, because I wanted to.
So, learn how to make a coconut pie in your down time; you just may turn that experience into a BLOG!
